We’re here to support children and their families.

About Us

Gold Coast Kids Therapy aims to support children and their families, to be as independent as possible, and work towards their self-identified goals. We provide individual assessment; and individual and group based intervention services from a range of different allied health providers, and support staff including: Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist, Speech Pathologist and Allied Health Assistants.

Many sessions are delivered in the clinic, but services are also sometimes provided in the community including home, daycare/kindy/school, playgrounds, and wherever the child is participating in activities (e.g. dance school, swimming lessons, shopping centre).

Who do we see?

  • Children from newborn to 17 years of age
  • Children who have difficulties participating in everyday activities impacted by difficulties with thinking skills, communication (speech and/or language), motor skills, attention, and/or social skills.
  • We see children with diagnosed disabilities including but definitely not limited to:

    Cerebral Palsy
    Acquired Brain Injury
    Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder
     Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS)
    Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
    Global Developmental Delay
    Intellectual Disability/Impairment
    Developmental Co-ordination Disorder
    Down Syndrome
    Upper limb differences e.g. “limb deficiency”

  • Children who do not have a diagnosis and have other developmental difficulties with:

    Fine motor skills  (manipulating objects, using pencil or scissors, handwriting)
    Attention
    Play skills
    Social Skills
    Self-Care skills – dressing, toileting, bathing
    Feeding /Mealtime skills
    Speech and/or language
    Moving parts of their body such as torticollis (neck) and talipes (feet)
    Early gross motor milestones such as learning to roll, sit, crawl and walk

What services do we provide?

Assessment

We are able to conduct formal and informal assessments including general development, communication (speech and language), early literacy, motor skills (including fine motor and hand function, handwriting, visual-motor, and gross motor skills), self-care skills (toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming) and specific task participation (e.g. tying shoe laces, riding a bike).

Therapy / Treatment

We create an individualised therapy plan with the child and family. The therapy is based around specific every-day function goals/needs.

Assistive Technology Prescription

Our team may be able to trial and prescribe a range of equipment for children including seating (additional postural support for mealtime, homework or leisure activities), mobility and community access (strollers/buggies, car seats), aids to assist in increasing participation or independence in self-care tasks (mealtime utensils, aids for bathing, toileting and dressing) Requests for home modifications are referred on to other services.
